Sky Q

Overview

A child is not a small adult. It sounds obvious, but in reality it’s a profound insight - one that guides practically everything we do when we develop solutions for children.

For example, you wouldn’t give a newborn baby a steak to eat. Just like you wouldn’t give a toddler adult medicine, or ask a 13-year-old to drive you to work. Whatever a child’s age, we treat them appropriately. This is especially important for children with hearing loss. From their initial testing and diagnosis through to hearing aid selection, verification, counselling and support, their needs are very different from those of adults. Crucially, these young listeners don’t have the foundation of language that adults do. So, they need the most consistent access possible to the sounds of life to build that foundation.

At Phonak we have served children around the world for over 40 years, working alongside the world’s leading paediatric specialists and taking onboard the considered advice of our Paediatric Advisory Board. The result of this knowledge is a new dedicated portfolio of paediatric solutions. One that is designed to meet children’s specific needs - ensuring their access to speech and language is continually optimised.

Our new paediatric portfolio includes the Phonak Sky Q hearing aid family and our expanded range of wireless accessories. Because products alone are not enough, we have refreshed our fitting software’s Junior mode, with special emphasis on verification. Plus we have enriched the support resources for you, children and their parents. In short, we have everything you need to treat a child like a child.

Features

DuoPhone

DuoPhone

Duophone improves the signal-to-noise ratio and therefore increases understanding of a telephone conversation. As soon as a telephone conversation starts, the telephone signal is not only amplified, it is also streamed using Binaual VoiceStream Technology to the other hearing aid, so that the caller‘s
voice is heard in both ears.

ZoomControl

ZoomControl

ZoomControl provides significant benefits in difficult listening situations when the signal of choice does not originate from the direction, the hearing instrument wearer is looking. ZoomControl utilises the wireless link between binaurally balanced microphones for real-time streaming.

StereoZoom

StereoZoom

StereoZoom is the only wireless, binaural directional feature that employs full bandwidth audio streaming and sophisticated processing to create a bidirectional network of four microphones. This allows wearers to focus on a single speaker while suppressing other interfering sounds. StereoZoom fulfils a long-standing wish to effectively pick out the voice of a single person in situations with excessive background noise.

Windblock

Windblock

Listening outdoors is part of everyday life. The adaptive WindBlock algorithm suppresses wind noise without changing microphone settings. Unlike other systems, the instruments can remain in directional mode while still effectively managing wind noise. With WindBlock, end users can really enjoy the great outdoors.

SoundFlow

SoundFlow

The most sophisticated automatic smoothly and seamlessly adapts by integrating the right set of parameters to ensure optimal listening for every soundscape. This unique capability is now further enhanced by the integration of FlexControl. SoundFlow is the master control of all features and settings.

SoundRecover

SoundRecover

The exclusive SoundRecover technology has triggered a paradigm shift in the approach to amplification of high frequency sounds for all degrees of hearing loss. SoundRecover picks up where extended bandwidth leaves off. It employs non-linear frequency compression to ensure audibility of high frequency sounds that can otherwise not be made audible. SoundRecover expands perceptual bandwidth, improving intelligibility, while maintaining natural sound quality and comfort, so wearers can now enjoy the full spectrum of sounds.

FlexVolume

FlexVolume

FlexVolume brings additional sophistication to loudness adjustments. Instead of linear up and down shifts in gain, FlexVolume shapes the gain curve in a frequency dependent manner. This
approach results in increased clarity when more volume is required, while comfort is enhanced with less volume.

WhistleBlock

WhistleBlock

WhistleBlock is highly effective thanks to ongoing behind-the-scenes monitoring and adaptation. Instead of applying the same levels of feedback cancellation for all situations, WhistleBlock adaptively adjusts the feedback cancelling action, applying varying levels of suppression depending on each specific situation.

QuickSync

QuickSync

One touch synchronisation. QuickSync allows wearers to control both hearing instruments with just one touch. The instantaneous transfer of data between instruments ensures that program settings or FlexControl adjustments are always synchronised.

UltraZoom

UltraZoom

UltraZoom is the next revolution in adaptive multichannel beamforming technology. Sophisticated microphone matching and calibration ensure optimal long-term performance of the dual-microphones. UltraZoom is automatically activated as needed within the SoundFlow automatic system, and is designed to improve understanding in background noise over traditional directional microphones.

SoundRelax

SoundRelax

Sharp, abrupt sounds like slamming doors and clanging dishes are an obvious irritation, made even worse when amplified. Fast-acting SoundRelax is the effective solution. It identifies these
sounds and applies gain reduction relative to the original peak signal characteristics without altering the MPO. The result is effective cushioning of otherwise unpleasant sounds. Thanks to
SoundRelax, impulse sounds no longer cause discomfort.
